Globafo come with a wide range of music performance and compositional backgrounds. The group makes original music that builds on folk textures from Latin music, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, and American and European folk.
Guitarist/Leader John PennyJazz greats that John has performed and/or recorded with include Organ legend Captain Jack MacDuff, drummers Eric Kamau Gravatt and Bernard Purdie, harmonicists Howard Levy and Mike Turk, and keyboardist Bobby Lyle.
Drummer Rey RiveraDiverse experience includes work with such luminaries as Pee Wee Elias of James Brown, Chet Catallo of Sypra Gyra, Jeff Jarvis, Patato, Franke Malabe, Eddie (gua-gua) Rivera, Ramito, Los Condes, Bob Weiner, Bobby Mantello and Miguelito Valdes. Rey received a Music Certificate from the University of Mantanza de Cuba for Folkloric Percussion under the study of Alphonso Dejesus of the Muinequitos de Matanza.
Bassist Charlie Riddle-Charlie has been playing professionally around the Twin Cities area for about thirty years.He has played with such bands as Inside Straight, Will Sumner's Tropic Zone, Salsa Blanca, The Sevilles, Zafra, to name a few. During that time he opened for artists such as, Sam and Dave, Jr. Walker, Sun Ra, James Brown, John Lee Hooker, Gato Barbieri, Peter Tosh, The Temptations and many others.

Local film historian-preservationist Bob DeFlores, who has been collecting and restoring films since 1953, will host a very special evening of REEL JAZZ Films from his personal collection celebrating
Jazz In Paris, featuring rare clips from
Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, Sydney Bechet, Josephine Baker and many more.
Michael Dregni will introduce the evening with a reading from his books on Parisian jazz. He is a Twin Cities guitarist and author of too many books on
Django Reinhardt, including
Django: The Life & Times of a Gypsy Legend,
Gypsy Jazz: In Search of Django Reinhardt &
the Soul of Gypsy Swing, and
Django Reinhardt & the Illustrated History of Gypsy Jazz.
About Bob DeFloresBob DeFlores grew up in Hollywood immersed in showbiz culture. His parents performed in movies, on the radio, and in nightclubs, and his passion for the cinema and jazz music developed early. His library of 6,000 works includes rare newsreels, cartoon shorts, sports footage, full-length features, and jazz and big band material.
DeFlores has assisted many legendary performers complete their film libraries, including Bing Crosby, Ginger Rogers, Shirley Temple, Kitty Carlise, Eleanor Powell, Tex Benke, Buddy Rogers, Frankie Carle, Phil Harris, and Loretta Young. In addition, he has become a primary resource for historical footage and clips used on A&E's Biography series, as well as such galas as the Kennedy Center Honors and the Grammy Awards. Based in the Twin Cities, DeFlores frequently travels across the country to present work from his expansive archive at universities and various organizations.
