Jazz and the Spirit is a radio show for jazz lovers and spiritual seekers alike. Through interviews and music, Michele Jansen and Steve Blons are piecing together the story of jazz as a spiritual expression.
Jazz has a spiritual history. That’s part of the story. The other part is deeply personal – many jazz artists, given the opportunity, are eager to talk about the connection between their art and their spirituality. And the stories are diverse; Christian, Jewish, Eastern, New Age… the spiritual practices of jazz musicians are all over the map. Hey, they’re improvisers!
